Before Launcher is an Android launcher that turns your home screen into a text-based list of apps.

Setting it up is simple.

Just select your essential apps for the front page. To access other apps, swipe right to open the app list.

In the launcher settings, under Styles & Themes, where you can choose your preferred icon pack, I opted for "No Icons, only text."

Removing app icons and colors makes social media apps less visually appealing to click on. Plus, since our brains process images faster than text, we’re less likely to open them out of habit.

You can further customize the background and text colors as well as swipe gestures to change how you open your app list or perform other actions like launching apps.

After trying similar launchers like Minimalist Phone and Olauncher, I found Before Launcher to be the most hassle-free to set up.

The free version works well for me, but the premium upgrade unlocks additional features, like app labeling, which might eventually convince me to upgrade.
